Over the summer of my junior year at Emerson College, I working with a professor of mine in collaboration with PBS Nova and WGBH to create a feature-length documentary about the events leading up to, during, and after the 2011 tsunami and nuclear power plant meltdown at Fukushima, Japan. This was a powerful, emotional piece that gave me a real sense of the power of documentary work and how to go beyond information and tap into the real emotion of the event. My professor is a master editor, so working under him as his assistant was an amazing experience, and one I'll never forget.
